Erica Owen.


Head Coach

Biography:

This is Coach Owens first year with EDS. She is originally from Youngstown, Ohio and a graduate of Butler High School here in Augusta. While in middle and high school she participated in softball, basketball, track, and danced with the band. Upon high school graduation, she attended Strayer University and has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. She is the owner and founder of True Prosperity Learning Center LLC, here in Augusta. She has taught in Richmond County for over 10 years. She began coaching at The Family Y, and have coached both U12 and U15 boys’ basketball teams for the past three years.

“My coaching philosophy is to pass on knowledge to those who do not have it. I also believe that playing sports as a child builds character and confidence but, also gives a sense of accomplishment.”

Biography:

Coach Carter has lived in Augusta his entire life and attended Richmond Academy, where he played basketball for the Musketeers.  He enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball, and track growing up.  In addition to coaching basketball, he also coaches softball and umpires baseball and softball games.

 

Sonia Sullivan-Clifton.


Assistant Coach

Biography:

Coach Sonia Sullivan-Clifton was born and raised in Savannah, Georgia.  She attended Savannah Christian Preparatory School, then went on to study at Valdosta State University (BBA, MBA), and the University of the South (MDiv). She practiced classical ballet, tap, and jazz from 3 years old through her high school graduation in addition to playing basketball and softball from the time she was 5 at the YMCA through high school. She played basketball on the Valdosta State Blazer basketball team and competitive intramurals throughout college. Coach Sullivan-Clifton coached youth soccer, basketball, softball at the YMCA while in high school and college; coached cheerleading and basketball at Valwood School in Valdosta while in college and afterward; and coached basketball at Trinity Preparatory School in Orlando FL for 6 years. This will be her first year coaching at EDS.
